my trackpad for my blackberry 9300 is not working. i've tried everything tried replacing my battery, restarting my phone with the power on. turning my audible on so i can hear the noise of the trackpad, changing my sensitivy. nothing works. help?

I have a brand new IPhone 5 still sealed in it's box. I never activated it, so no Telus SIM card was insert in it either. Does that mean that the phone is Factory Unlocked? If no, how can I unblock it without opening the box?
