Re: Flip phones
Yes, although Telus is more difficult than other providers to access picture/mms messages if you use an older model. Otherwise, you can pretty much use any phone -- Blackberry works, many Japanese ones work, and newer ones like the Mive Alt Style Folder II and the Galaxy Folder II work. You should be able to find one outright for under $150 (I got mine from South Korea/Japan delivery services like buyee or delivered.kr - I've tried a few and they're all pretty much the same.1.2KViews0likes0CommentsConvert one number smartwatch plan to standalone
Hi! I have the S24 Ultra (or something, idk the one with the stylus) and it came with the Galaxy 5 classic smartwatch. I don’t use the phone and don’t plan to - I wanted an iPhone and had no cost effective way to get out of the Telus contract situation so I just bought an iPhone and swapped over my sim. However, I’m paying $15 a month for this Smartwatch plan so I want to use it. I like the watch well enough but I cannot get it data on its own - when it’s not at home connected to the Bluetooth on the phone it can’t get access. A pain since I don’t use the phone. I have tried playing with the apn settings with no luck and it won’t find the network or register on it. I did a little digging and realized that it may be the one number thing. I believe what I want is the standalone watch plan, like they do for kids. I’m now getting an Apple Watch: is it possible to switch the plan, and is there a more painless tech support way to do it versus the customer service line? I don’t want to buy the watch through Telus, just use my existing plan.981Views0likes1CommentReally nice experience!!
My whole time with Telus so far has been vastly unpleasant (I'm sorry lol but it's true) but I recently had a great experience. I can't find a feedback form, so I wanted to say here quickly: a couple weeks ago I called Telus to fix a goof-up I made with double billing my watch plan. I was charged a $60 setup fee plus a plan for a phantom watch I did not own, but the customer service agent, Sally, fixed it right away. When it came to billing time, I found the $60 fee still on my bill. I tried to reach out to Telus' customer service via the online chat assist, but it er, didn't recognize my 368 number as a Canadian phone. My Telus number. So I went to the store instead, and they were unable to help. I figured I'd spend a few hours trying to sit on hold, which I didn't really have with work - but Sally had already called *me* while I was driving home, apologized for missing that line, fixed the problem, and fixed my bill. I've literally been telling all my friends what a pleasant experience I had all day. This is the old school Telus service I used to love!! I still don't use the phone (bruh the S24 Ultra is the size of my MacBook, I'd have to start wearing it on my tummy like a Teletubby), definitely have not touched the watch, and use about 1g of my data 😂 nonetheless, I am a much happier customer than before. If there is anyone on the Telus team who could pass my appreciation on, please do. It is well earned!!818Views0likes1CommentRe: Streaming throttling
Oh, please follow up with how it goes! I have also filed a complaint before on a different issue and came back to this thread as the throttling problem persisted. It improves on a vpn/with iCloud relay. i don’t have high streaming needs but it’s kicking out even when I just have a doc or Notion open -_-5.5KViews1like0CommentsRe: Telus phone not sending texts
It started happening randomly, I had the sim in an iPhone 5S but it stopped working randomly. I didn’t think anything of it until I put it in a new Android (Mive Alt Style Folder) and finally tested it on my S24 Ultra that came with the plan. It doesn’t send texts on any of the three. The number is fully deregistered from iMessage, Google RCS, and Samsung enhanced features. Everything else still works (calls, mms, data, even iMessage when I had it enabled) but it can’t send an sms no matter what I do.6KViews0likes2CommentsTelus phone not sending texts
Hi, my # is receiving texts just fine, able to make calls, and can use data, but for the last week I can't send texts (I have a second number which is why I’ve not dealt with this yet). The text just says not sent or sending failed. Using my sim in 3 different phones, I’ve tried: resetting mobile network settings, factory resetting the phone, turning on and off RCS, double checking that the number is deregistered from iMessage, clearing the storage and cache for every messaging app, ping tests, sending multiple numbers test texts, and trying dif apps including Google Messages, Samsung Messages, and QKSMS. Tried iPhone, S24 Ultra, flip phone. All had the same problem. I’m hoping someone can help me with a solution that doesn’t involve calling or visiting the store (since those both can take a lot of time), or at least what to ask for when I do. Thanks!!6.3KViews0likes10Comments
