According to this it should work: is email to sms supported? | TELUS Neighbourhood Unfortunately in my tests it didn't work for me. I tried both HTML and Plain Text formatting sending from Outlook:-(

It's unclear where you are having a problem. You say you can connect to Plex externally so port forwarding is working. Can you elaborate as to what isn't working?

It's probably easier to configure the Telus remote to control your TV than to get your TV remote to control the Telus box. There has been some attempts to do what you want with limited success: RB21T Remote and TELUSTV-24S IR or BT | TELUS Neighbourhood

It's not unusual for DNS servers to block pings so that they are more responsive to DNS lookups. As mentioned you can do a test by querying the DNS directly.
