Legitimacy of this number

Just Moved In

Good evening,

I was looking at RedFlagDeals and came across a post about a promotion. I called the number +1 866-558-4146 and was transferred to the sales department, then to the loyalty department. A representative mentioned pricing of $30 per month for 120GB of 5G data, along with U.S. and Canadian calling. I asked for a callback later that day and again later that week as I was interested in potentially switching from Rogers.

The representative called me back from what appeared to be an official number, but I’m feeling a bit wary because people on the internet have mentioned this could be a scam. I want to know if there are ways to verify the legitimacy of the offer when I talk to her tomorrow. For example, should I ask for an employee ID or reference number?

I’ve read that some companies consider it against protocol to provide certain information, and representatives might hang up if you ask for it—but I could be wrong.

Let me know if I’m being too skeptical. Honestly, it’s better to be safe than sorry when handing over personal information.
