Return Phone issues

Gerryt

I have been communicating with Telus by phone, text, and i person for the last month, trying to return a Bring it Back phone. After considering Telus' renewal options, we decided to switch to another carrier and return our phone after the 24 month period. We tried twice to return it to a Telus store, after being told online by Telus to do so, but the stores refused to accept it. I was then promised a return shipping label by email by an online person, but it was never sent to me. I was also promised that my issue would be escalated and resolved by a followup call, but one was never received.

I am very disappointed in Telus does anyone have suggestions to resolve this. My next step is to post on social media, contact my member of parliament, and any other public and regulatory groups.

Have not had experience with bring it back. Is there a timeline involved in doing so? What happens if you do not bring it back?

The consequences they say are that I have to pay for the phone $450 plus tax. I don't need it.

I am sure you have done this

What happens at the end of my contract?

At the end of your 2-year contract, you will need to decide if you want to either:

Return your device to a participating TELUS location, or
  •
Keep the phone and pay the Bring-It-Back™ Program Amount that was provided to you at the start of your contract
Joining My TELUS is the easiest way for you to manage and stay up to date on important information regarding your account. You can use My TELUS to review Bring-It-Back™ information, including notification banners that remind you to return your device.

May I suggest that you do up a simple letter saying On this date I came to return my Bring it back phone and the Telus store employee said they cannot take it back. If they do not take it back have them sign letter.

Or some other way to prove later you tried to return it. Be able to show you tried to return on time.

File a complaint with BBB against Telus refusing to take it back, again to have a timeline established.

Then come back here and PM @TELUS_Support with this information

Good suggestions thanks. I just spoke to a Telus support person and he said that once you port your line out it cancels the bring it back agreement and you cannot return the phone. This is unreasonable to me and I am fighting it. I've filed a complaint with BBB with the only Telus remedy to accept the phone back. I'm willing to accept any damage costs to the phone.

OMG, no wonder we keep getting super deal offers on good contracts to upgrade before term.
