Re: 2.4 Ghz Wifi greyed out in modem GUI
Thanks for the follow-up and info, it's appreciated. When I first plugged in the new router I logged into the GUI to update the passwords and checked a few other settings, the firmware version matched what was shown after the reset. So I don't think that was updated but since then the 2.4 Ghz band is ON. I'm guessing something maybe didn't upload properly the first time. Thanks again for your feedback though, xray take care!3KViews0likes0CommentsRouter recommendations
Hello, I'm thinking of getting a third party router to add to my network for additional control/security. Wondering if there are any suggestions to which router brands/models work best with Telus equipment. We have Telus TV so I imagine we'd need to keep our modem. We currently have the Telus Arcadyan Wi-Fi Hub, any suggestions on how to incorporate that with a third party router? Is the T3200 a better option instead of the Arcadyan when using your own router?Solved2.9KViews0likes1Comment2.4 Ghz Wifi greyed out in modem GUI
Hello, I'm currently using the Telus Arcadyan (Wi-Fi Hub) and recently noticed the 2.4 Ghz Wifi Band was "greyed" out in the GUI (couldn't make any changes to it under it's tab under Wifi settings). Both the 5 Ghz bands were fine. I had just got this modem so I called the tech that dropped it off and he said to do a factory reset and see if that clears it up--that option worked but I'm wondering if this should be happening to a brand new modem or if I should be asking them to replace it with another new one.3.1KViews0likes2CommentsRe: Telus modem/app incorrectly showing connected devices
Sorry to hear about the issues you're having with the app, hopefully things get resolved soon. Did you try deleting and reinstalling the app? I was having login issues with mine a while back and ended up having to reinstall it.7.1KViews0likes1CommentGot a new Telus modem with a yellow sticker on the box
Hi Folks, Quick question, our Telus modem had been giving us a few issues so we got a replacement dropped off by a technician. It had a yellow sticker on the outside of the box with a number 11 on it. I've heard that sometimes Telus refurbishes their equipment and will put a yellow sticker on those units. Does anyone know what these stickers look like? I had asked Telus for a brand new modem so just wanted to make sure I didn't get a refurbished one. Everything was packed nicely in the box and it looked new, the technician said it was most likely a factory applied sticker.2.5KViews0likes2CommentsRe: Telus modem/app incorrectly showing connected devices
Thanks for the feedback, it's appreciated. We don't have a Telus Boost, just their modem. I did notice the wireless devices that are showing up incorrectly as being on Ethernet while on WiFi seem be on our guest network. Not sure if this is just a coincidence.7.1KViews0likes1CommentTelus modem/app incorrectly showing connected devices
Hello, I just noticed some of the devices that are connected on our wireless network are showing up as being connected via ethernet when we look at the Telus My Wifi app and also via the Telus modem GUI. There is not an issue with the connection itself, just that it's being incorrectly shown as being via ethernet on the GUI/app. I have never seen this happen before. We had some earlier concerns about hacking, so I am a tad bit paranoid now about seeing odd things like this show up. Has anyone else experienced the above issue? Could it be a sign of someone perhaps hacking onto our network or more likely a "glitch" with our hardware? I'm thinking of rebooting the network to see if the issue resolves itself. Thanks in advance for your feedback.7.2KViews0likes7CommentsRe: Question about security of Telus modem's GUI
Thanks for your feedback FuzzyLogic, it's appreciated. Are there any signs to look for to see if a home network is compromised? Would the modem settings be different/changed, or things like the SSID passwords be different? Does it make sense in your opinion to be updating the admin and SSID passwords periodically just to be safe?6.2KViews0likes2CommentsQuestion about security of Telus modem's GUI
Hello, I had a few quick questions regarding the security of the Telus modem GUI (http://192.168...). The IP uses "http", not "https", so I'm wondering how secure/safe it is to be updating my modem via the GUI. Or, is connecting to the GUI different than logging into a normal website account and thus harder for someone outside of my network to intercept the data if they wanted? I'm also curious if it's more secure to log into the GUI using an Ethernet connection as opposed to using WiFi. Related to the above, I'm wondering how secure it is to have the Telus My-Wifi app. I like being able to see the devices on my network but am wondering how secure the connection between the app and my home network is if the GUI uses http. Or does the app use a more secure/encrypted connection with the network? Thanks for your feedback, it's appreciated. Also, Happy New Year to you!Solved6.3KViews0likes4Comments
