Re: TELUS TV Digital Box Offer
I watched the Oilers vs Kraken game that I had recorded and I agree the image quality is very poor. The Kraken players looked like black blobs moving around the ice. The picture is over saturated and the dynamic range to the colour intensity is gone. I am debating about going back to my old system, and sorting out my remote issues some other way. This new remote is mickey mouse.89Views1like0CommentsRe: TELUS TV Digital Box Offer
I tried the upgrade, and it has been a bit of a disaster. Mainly through trial and error I now have our LG TV and Yamaha receiver turning off and on with the Telus remote. I have to change the input with the Yamaha remote, and they play a major guessing game with the rest of the buttons including the TV input on the Telus remote. It probably takes me 5 minutes or more to turn on my system and actually watch something. When I get the inputs sorted out it then I can control volume from the Yamaha receiver. But the other issue is image quality. It has gone downhill to the point it is more like standard definition than high definition, especially with recordings. Not impressed and if I can't gets these issues sorted out I am going to return it to go back to the old system.60Views2likes1CommentTELUS TV Digital Box Offer
Have not been here for a long while. I recently got this free upgrade offer via email from Telus. Currently have an Optic TV PVR set top box, and one other set top box in the house. The main set has a Yamaha receiver and a sound system. Would it be worthwhile to "upgrade", and am I likely to be opening a can of compatibility worms? Am I correct in that the new system does not store recordings internally but does it to a cloud where it remains available for 90 days, rather than indefinitely? Is the included remote likely to handle the Yamaha receiver switching and sound control? Currently using a Logitec Harmony 650 remote that is just barely working. Any other issues with this new box that I should be aware of before jumping in? https://www.telus.com/en/tv/optik/tvupgrade279Views0likes11CommentsRe: Wifi 5G Issues
I had the not staying connected issue with my iPhone. I tried many things and finally discovered that if I connect my iPhone to the 2.4 GHz network instead of the 5G, it stays connected. I have not had the problem with other wireless PC and Android devices. They are still on 5G.3.6KViews0likes0CommentsRe: I have the Internet 100 plan in Edmonton but can't find info on the plan.
If you go into your modem (the address and password should be on the side of the modem) you can check some setting there. To get 100 Mbps you must have a bonded modem with two phone lines going into it. There should be a screen that gives you a rating on the quality and speed of each of the two lines. That will tell you if there is a problem with the copper lines into the home. I am on fiber now so I can't give you the exact screen to bring up but it may be in the advanced section.6.5KViews0likes0CommentsRe: I have the Internet 100 plan in Edmonton but can't find info on the plan.
No, that is not acceptable for what you are paying in Edmonton. I got nearly 80 down and 20 up with copper Internet 75 in Edmonton. I have switched to fiber and now get 87 download and 79 up or around that amount. Call for technical support and complain.6.6KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Any action required?
I think if you cancel out and have a contract then there may be contract cancellation charges. However, if you have good reasons for cancelling, like it doesn't work well, then you may be able to get out. Most things seem very negotiable with Telus. I have about 30 lines of negotiated adjustments on my Telus bill... Sorry, but your in house setup is much more complicated than mine, so I can't help you there.6.9KViews0likes0Comments
