There are numerous changes coming to cable tv in a week and I was wondering what Telus is doing. Several rebrands and relaunches. No news from Telus.

I posted earlier that with all these upcoming channels being dropped that Telus needs to switch up their theme packs:

I would love to hear what a Telus rep thinks of this.

Yeah it is nuts. We are losing MTV, Cooking, Nasa, Discovery and already lost certain programs on existing channels which is just bizare (Below Deck Sailing Yacht). Plus the garbage rebranding of HGTV and Food Network is confusing and pointless. How do they expect people to stay with them if they keep offering less service for the same price?
Saturday
I've asked Telus to see the updated theme packs following these changes so that I can drop the packs that no longer make sense, but they continue to claim they have no idea what the theme packs will be in like 3 days.
I can appreciate channels change and adjustments must be made, but the fact Telus can't tell you what you'll be paying for after the changes is totally bizarre. I guess they just hope people don't notice the shrinkflation in their theme packs, and if you do, they still won't tell you about it? Not the business practice I would employ personally.

So far I will not be missing anything
yesterday
It really sucks when there is 1 channel out of every theme pack I am losing. Sorry, getting 3 months of free discovery+ won’t cut it. I need to get my package down to a manageable dollar amount when I’m not getting the content I was paying for!

time to jump ship to rogers

Going too Rogers won't help. The changes are up stream at Bell Media.

@vimi78 I'll paste the comment I just posted in another thread that you're a part of:
Content acquisition is, in general, complex and the process confidential (even for TELUS employees outside of only a few) so we generally don't speculate or speak on the process until launch date. Our team works throughout the year to acquire and/or renew/negotiate licenses all the time.

Note that these changes are not TELUS's doing. They are carrying Bell channels and Bell (Bell Media) is shaking up their channel lineup. The same changes will happen on any Canadian carrier.
From Bell press release: Other Bell Media channels rebranding on January 1 are Investigation Discovery as Oxygen True Crime, Animal Planet as CTV Wild Channel, Discovery Science as CTV Nature Channel, and Velocity as CTV Speed Channel, all continuing as part of Bell Media’s impressive lineup of English-language specialty channels which also includes: CTV Sci-Fi Channel, CTV Drama Channel, CTV Comedy Channel, CTV Life Channel, E!, CTV News Channel, CP24, BNN Bloomberg, and Much.

Tuesday
So I see that Discovery's guide listings change to the USA Network on New Year's Day. That means we are keeping the old revamped networks then? I would love to see if they plan on shuffling channels around to make different theme packs. With the loss of the WWE Network I think I can afford to just subscribe to USA unless the other channels offered are something that interests me. Flavour Network has been meh so far.
Tuesday
Looks like Telus will be keeping its "Discovery" line up, and offering the rebrands.

Seems like they're still dropping Magnolia Network (channel 311) and Cooking Channel (channel 317)?
Tuesday
Makes sense since they are Bell channels and Telus and Bell are pretty much joined at the hip. Also i'm fairly certain the rebrands fall under whatever their current deal is. It's the new channels from Rogers that they need to work on.
