TelusTV-21T button in front

Rocky3

Anyone know what the button at the front of the tuner is for? And how to use it.

Also there is a factory reset at the back. What does it do and how would you use it?

Then there is a button on the side, I think it is for pairing, but for what?

The button on the front turns the box off and on, and it doubles as the IR remote receiver. I haven't seen any settings for the button.

Telus only has a single model of TelusTV-21T that I'm aware of. That's the new Android TV based set top box. It looks like:

Pushing the button on the front turns my box on and off. If that button is obstructed before pairing the IR/Bluetooth remote that come swith the set top box, the box doesn't respond to IR signals from the remote.

The pairing button on the side is to pair Bluetooth accessories / devices like the Bluetooth TV remote that comes with that set top box. When I push that button on my set top box, it brings up a message that the box is looking for BT devices that are in pairing mode.

Supposedly a standby button:

Mine does nothing when pressed.

However, having again a problem with rebooting afer a power glitch/outage I pressed and held front button and inserted power, continue to hold for some 15 seconds and a reboot screen shows on TV, let go and quick press starts a reboot. Have not figured out how to drop down the list of options.

This is a covuluted system that even when it works, it does not.

To access any of the settings for the set top box you need to use the remote itself. The older set top boxes also needed the remote to access the settings also.

When the newer boxes first turn on and it brings up all the random content on the screen, the settings can be found under the little gear icon in the top right of the screen. If you don't see that screen, tap the home button on the remote and then navigate up to the settings gear icon and hit OK.

We are not talking about the same thing. I asked what the front button is supposed to do, not any of the other theings that require the box to be working.

There is only one button on the front of the front of the set top box. It's right above the status LED that shows blue or white depending on if the box is in standby or online. That button does require the set top box to be functional for it to work. FuzzyLogic even provided a link to the manual for the set top box from the manufacturer which confirms the functions of the buttons. If you are saying you have a different button, can you post a photo of which one you are talking about?

You also did specifically ask about the other two buttons on the box. Both the reset and the bluetooth pairing button, which also do require the box to be working.

@Nighthawk

Thank you, I get that.

So unless the box is on and working these buttons are useless. End of discussion as getting it to work is what I was doing for an hour last night. I am wearing out the dam power pin in/out over and over. Was looking for any other way to reboot when it refuses to reboot. This is my 2nd box and after a month it is doing the same as the first.

I asked about factory reset too as I have pushed that pin many times to with no immediate result.

Plug in power white light turns blue, screen displays Telus underlined, goes white and screen says no signal. OVER AND OVER. I know it will boot as the blue light blinks.

Then I get no internet, internet connection established so I do not know if the failure is due to no internet inside the box because I do have internet by WIFI or ethernet, same wire that goes to the box.

Thanks anyway, There may be something else in my area that causes this glitch as no one else seems to experience it.

@FuzzyLogic Thank you for trying. Found this, if only a onetime unplug/plug would reboot

If the digital box still does not work, try rebooting it. Simply unplug it, then plug it back in
