Sportsnet 4k audio question

ODAWG27

The Blue Jays home games are supposed to be outputting 5.1 audio, i have a 5.1 system and yet the audio to me is not 5.1 but rather stereo...and i know that it's supposed to be 5.1 because ive literally spoken to the guy who mixes audio for Sportsnet. So it has to be a Telus issue. Anyone at Telus can help with this? Thanks.

How is your Telus receiver hooked to your amp? Are you passing the hdmi through the amp?

Yup, have it on passthrough and bitstream...weird thing as the channel itself I hear sound through all speakers but when the game comes on it reverts back to stereo only when in 4k

Also only seems to be an issue on the 4k channels..the hd channel 5.1 seems to work when the game is on but on 4k it reverts to stereo when game is on...

Hey @Optik-Kate is this a known issue?

Do you have the new TELUS TV+ box? The audio is designed to select the surround soundtrack if it's available. If it's not, then it will play the default audio.

I have the old 4k pvr box....the channel it self plays on all speakers but when the Blue Jays game comes on and it switches into 4k the audio doesn't play on all speakers but it did when I checked the hd channel. And the audio guy from Sportsnet said the 4k channel is outputting 5.1 on their end.

Out of curiosity, is the broadcast in real full 4K? My experience is, before pandemic, full 4k, after pandemic, upconverted HD.
