Waterdown is a town within the City of Hamilton and wireless coverage here is terrible. I haven't had a cell phone pick up 3G service in over a decade, but here we are. How is this acceptable in 2024?
I'd understand if I was in a completely isolated rural area, but this part of Hamilton still has almost 20,000 residents, and we're even 3km from a GO Train station, so it's not like this is some oddly new pop-up town in the middle of the sticks.
I've heard rumours that TELUS is in the process of installing new cell towers, but none of this has been confirmed. Will any TELUS representative respond here?

Telus doesn't actually have any towers in Waterdown itself. Telus is using Bell's existing tower network there.

Does that mean that Bell's coverage is just as bad, or are they throttling Telus' access?

It likely would mean Bell's service is as bad. I can't see Bell throttling Telus as that could backfire in western Canada where Bell uses Telus's towers. I would suggest reporting the problem to Telus so that they can make Bell aware of the issues. If others in the area have the same issue, it would be advisable for them to reach out as well. You would want to speak to someone in tech support directly on the phone or by chat on Telus's website.
Chat is a purple speech bubble icon in the lower right of the page. One place to see it is the main support page.
