Telus Smart Hub Cold Weather

I am looking at possibly getting the Telus Smart Hub for our cabin. I am wondering if anyone has tried this in an unheated setting. We winterize our cabin for the winter and the heat is turned off. Given that temps here can reach -40 the odd day I was wondering if the router can function at that temp. I have read that ambient temperature should be zero degrees and above. The only reason I would like to leave the internet on is for security purposes (to monitor camera's). Thanks

The Smart Hub is designed to operate within a specific temperature range, typically starting at 0°C and above. Exposing it to extreme cold, such as -40°C, may affect its performance and potentially damage the hardware over time.

If you need to leave the internet active for security purposes, we recommend placing the Smart Hub in an insulated area or adding a small heating solution to keep the temperature stable.

You are all good, -30 for weeks dipping to -40 in the wind for 2 winters now. Services seems slower when it is super cold but that could be in my head. Been very happy with the system.

Thanks for the info. Are you talking about the device outside that receives the signal or the router that would be inside. I am looking to turn heat off in the winter and leave router, that would be inside, running in a -30 environment at times.

Oh I see, the antenna power supply is in a basement utility room so it is heated. We don’t actually use the Telus router, we run an older TP Link mesh system with one of the nodes in a shed for cameras. That particular node sees the extreme cold as the shed is not heated. It to seem to keep going despite an manufacturer’s OT range of 0C to 40C degrees. I know that doesn’t help any but all 8 of our cameras are not rated for that kind of cold but they run and have for years. Good luck.

Thanks. That helps.
