Does WiFi Plus include outdoors coverage (city lot)?

Helpful Neighbour

House is on about a half acre city lot in Greater Victoria. Does the WiFi Plus $10/m add-on include coverage for the entire property or just inside? Does Telus provide exterior/outdoors wifi APs?

Thanks.

Wifi has a fairly short range unless you get a high powered purpose made wifi access point. The range on any wifi router / access point is never guaranteed. That goes for the ones Telus sells also.

Telus does not currently have any outdoor Wifi access points listed on their site for sale. If you're looking for simple connectivity and not lightning fast speeds, you could put a regular wifi access point, or a Telus Wifi Plus AP in one of the windows facing the yard you're looking to cover. The fewer obstacles between the AP and your device(s), the further the range can be, though the speed does get less the further away you get.

If not, there are stronger third party wireless access points out there that have higher broadcast power on them. Prices do vary. There are also outdoor specific APs, but you'd need a way to connect and power them if installed outside.
