API for router to disconnect a device

qhwa

Greetings!

I want to control the screen time for my 5-year-old. One of the agreements is to rest the eyes for a while after some minutes of watching the iPad. I want to disconnect and connect the device (iPad) after triggers to enforce this.

I noticed that I can do it manually through the Telus mobile app. Is there any API on the router that I can call, too?

Thank you in advance.

I don't think this can be done with the Telus app. Apple has various settings that may help:

Set up parental controls with Family Sharing on iPhone - Apple Support (CA)

Just a long time customer hoping to help.

Hi @FuzzyLogic , Telus Connect App, there is a list of devices. I can disconnect/connect them as follows:

We are using Apple's parental control, too. It's not strong enough to enforce a break while using the screen because screen operation can be resumed just after entering the passcode on the device. I am thinking about something more physical, for example, a button outside the room so that the kid has to leave the screen.

You can set a separate PIN for Screen Time on the iPad. Don't use the same PIN as the code to unlock the iPad.

The only sure fire way to ensure they are leaving the screen is to remove the iPad from their room at night. An iPad is a privelege so the child should have to earn having it in their room. Kids have been outsmarting parents for years when it comes to digital or software based restrictions.
