Most Anticipated
Bosch: Legacy (Season 1)
I'm so pumped for this! I'm a huge fan of the Bosch series so when it ended, I felt bittersweet. As one of my all-time favorite shows I was sad to see it go...but happy when it was quickly announced that it had been picked up for a new season as Bosch: Legacy. Once again starring the incredible Titus Welliver as Harry Bosch and Madison Lintz as his daughter Maddie as she begins her new career as an LAPD officer. Many stars from the original cast return as well, along with the original showrunners and producers...so this is shaping up nicely!
Harry quit the force at the end of the original series and is now working as a private investigator while his daughter gets into the family business as a fresh LAPD officer. It'll be interesting to see Harry juggle his new career and mentoring his daughter, and I can't wait to watch it unfold. I put this gritty series up there with classics like The Wire for its ability to showcase the seedy underbelly of a sprawling Los Angeles while simultaneously focusing on characters, family, and friends that love and look out for each other. There'll be action and cliffhangers galore, and when Bosch: Legacy streams on May 6th, you know where I'll be!
What I'm Watching Now
Outer Range (Season 1)
Where to begin with this amazing new show? Part Yellowstone, part LOST, part The Outer Limits...you see where I'm headed here. Outer Range will definitely garner comparisons to Yellowstone though this fantastic series has something extra...a serious inclination towards the paranormal. As peculiar as that may sound, so far it's managed to blend the genres incredibly well. Led by the always commanding Josh Brolin as Royal Abbott, a rancher dealing with the balance of maintaining his ranch and family while also dealing with the outsiders and politics that threaten his way of life.
All of that is thrown into upheaval with the sudden appearance of a massive hole in one of his fields. A seemingly endless pit descending into the unknown. Its arrival also brings with it a mysterious new person, and maybe even answers into the sudden disappearance of Royal's daughter-in-law who vanished nine months prior. Oh, and did I mention Royal has no recollection of his life before appearing as an eight year old boy on the ranch? You know this is all connected somehow.
How incredible does that look? I'm a huge fan of Western and Sci-Fi dramas, as dissimilar as they seem...and to see a series make both work together, it's a must-watch. The first few episodes are already streaming on Prime Video and two new episodes will be added every week until the finale in early May. Don't miss it!
