Squid Game (Season 2) - Netflix
When Squid Game dropped on Netflix three years ago, it quickly became a sensation. A violent satire on class warfare had childhood favorite games form the basis for a deadly tournament, with those participating all vying to not only win a life-changing grand prize of money...but for their own survival. Now finally, we get to see the next chapter as Gi-Hun once again finds himself playing to survive.
I'm a massive fan of the first season of Squid Game and its dystopian take on reality TV and class warfare in society. It reminded me of the classic 2000 Japanese horror movie 'Battle Royale', and it's my favorite type of science fiction and drama. These types of stories aren't completely fantastical, but rooted more in reality...making us ponder how we'd handle being put into these kinds of situations ourselves. With the main cast and creators all returning, don't miss the next thrilling season of Squid Game when it drops December 26 only on Netflix!
What I'm Watching Now
A Man on The Inside (Season 1) - Netflix
This hilarious series sort of came out of nowhere. Personally, I didn't see much hype about it and now that I've watched the first few episodes, I'm truly baffled. From the creator of The Good Place, Parks and Recreation, and Brooklyn Nine Nine (need I say more?), A Man on The Inside stars the hilarious Ted Danson as a retired professor looking for something to fill his days. Newly widowed, he stumbles on an ad to aid as a private investigator going undercover in a retirement home to solve the mystery of an expensive family heirloom.
This type of sharp, dry humor is right up my alley. I love Ted Danson's delivery, and the rest of the cast shines as well. From what I've watched thus far however, what hooked me with the other comedies I listed is what hooked me here as well: the writing. The jokes are sharp, and the mix-ups that Danson's character Charles gets himself into are hilarious. Definitely a great series to kick back after a long day and get some laughs in.
