Prime Video on TELUS - June 2022

Prime Video -Twitter.jpg

June is here, friends! There's nothing better than kicking back after a great summer day and checking out that new movie your coworkers keep talking about, or checking out the latest episodes of your favourite series. Prime Video is the place to be for both, and next month brings the return of one of the most popular Prime Video series ever!

As you may know, Prime Video is part of the Optik TV experience, and the Prime Video app is also on the Optik TV 4K media box as well. It's never been easier to sign up! There's always great new original content available, not to mention a ton of classic movies and shows to check out!

Coming to Prime Video in June

  • June 3 - The Boys (Season 3)
    • The next chapter in the Superheroes-Gone-Bad action packed comic book hit series.
  • June 17 - The Lake (Season 1)
    • The highly anticipated Canadian comedy series about a father reconnecting with his daughter.

The Boys (Season 3)

After a long hiatus, Prime Videos' biggest release of the month is undoubtedly the return of the hilariously over-the-top smash superhero comic book series The Boys. Season 3 picks up where the last season left off, with the ultra-powerful (yet mentally unstable) Homelander is on damage control, while ex-CIA operative Billy Butcher and his band of rogue agents are still chasing down 'The Seven'. Now that Homelander has become a radicalized mega-celebrity teetering on the brink of insanity, so much so that even his fellow 'supes' are starting to worry, it's harder than ever to bring him down. But that's just what Billy and his crew are out to do, and with some new opportunities to level the playing field with powers of their own, they may just have a chance.

The entire cast and showrunners return, and let's just say the latest trailer is amazing...and so over-the-top that we can't show it here! Be sure to track it down though, as all the campy violence and mayhem from the first two seasons is seemingly child's play to what's in store for us when Season 3 of The Boys drops on June 3. You know where I'll be!

Outer Range

What an incredible first season this was. If you're unaware of Outer Range and what it's about, but enjoy slow burning dramas a la Breaking Bad as well as shows that have a bit of a sci-fi edge and mystery, look no further. Outer Range managed to blend a handful of genres into 8 episodes that left me scrambling to see what happened next, and it did not disappoint.

The incredible Josh Brolin is Royal Abbott, a stubborn Wyoming rancher, battling for his land and family. His family struggles with the disappearance of his daughter-in-law and a nearby rival family who wants to take over his land. All of this is thrown into upheaval when Royal discovers a massive circular hole in one of his pastures. Something out of a science fiction movie, the void in his field is the key to unlocking the mysteries that befall him as he learns more and more about what it does...and where it leads.

The first season of this show was awesome, and the suspense was almost unbearable at times in a good way. From a family member's disappearance, to a season-long murder mystery coverup, the similarities to hits like Breaking Bad were surprising, but welcome. The big reveal and cliffhanger to end the season was possibly one of the greatest television payoffs I can recall, and you owe it to yourself to not spoil anything but just check it out as soon as you can. The entire season is now streaming on Prime Video!
