It's the scariest, most haunted time of the year! Halloween is upon us once again. As we don our costumes and brace ourselves for the onslaught of bite-sized candy headed our way, there's always one thing that I personally look forward to more than anything. Scary movies! As a self-proclaimed horror aficionado, I could list endless movies that I'd gladly watch over and over. From my personal favorite, John Carpenter's original 1978 classic Halloween to the Evil Dead series or more recent classics like It Follows, I love it all.
Even better, did you know that Optik TV On Demand has its very own Halloween themed section called 'Trick or Treat'? Well, it does and let me tell you...it's awesome. From classic slasher flicks to modern horror masterpieces to (of course) more family friendly choices, it's all here. There's even some Halloween themed scenes available for free, so you can have a bunch of scary pumpkins in the background all night long! In celebration of this great time of year, allow me to recommend a few movies for you to check out both with the kids, and once they've gone to sleep and you're all alone in the dark of night. Oh, after you're all done trick or treating as well, can't forget that part. Let's get to it!

Us - Jordan Peele's instant horror classic about a family stalked by their terrifying dopplegangers.
30 Days of Night - A small Alaskan town is beset by vampires as it prepares for a month-long polar night.
Cloverfield - New Yorkers flee from a massive monster that attacks the city and leaves destruction in its wake.

Looking for something with that Halloween touch without giving the kids nightmares for weeks? We've got you covered there, too. Here are some great family oriented Halloween movies that you're sure to love as well!
The Nightmare Before Christmas - Tim Burton's magical stop-motion animated classic about Jack, the Pumpkin King.
The Addams Family - A family comedy classic; the tale of the supernatural Addams Family and their adventures!
Monsters, Inc. - PIXAR's all-time classic about monsters that scare children as part of their jobs. Hilarious and scary!
There's all this and more! You can rent or even purchase brand new movies to own! So kick back, bust out some of that awesome candy your kids scored (other than candy corn because...well, you know), and have a Happy Halloween!
