Hope you're doing well and enjoying the autumn season! If you're not aware, the Crave + Movies + HBO package on Optik TV is amazing, and is the easiest way to check out must-see HBO and Showtime series, amazing Crave originals, oh and not to mention the newest Hollywood blockbusters. While you wait for that next big movie to drop, there's also an almost endless catalogue of classic HBO series like Billions, Game of Thrones, Drag Race, and The Handmaid's Tale to revisit (or finally check out for the first time). I could go on, but you get the idea. You can also watch everything via On Demand, online, and through the Crave app. What's not to love?
Let's check out some cool titles headed our way next month as well as what I'm currently hooked on!
Coming To Crave in October
October 14 - Canada's Drag Race (Season 2)
The highly anticipated second Canadian season of RuPaul's worldwide reality phenomenon.
October 17 - Succession (Season 3)
The ruthless Roy family returns for a third season of the hit drama.
Succession (Season 3)
If you're not caught up on Succession, you have time to binge the first two seasons on Crave before the highly anticipated new season hits...and you'll be glad you did. This Emmy award winning series features some of the best writing and acting you'll see anywhere, and after the ending of Season 2, expect much of the same. Succession follows the story of the media titan Roy family as the head of the family starts to move away from leading the company...leaving an opening for his three children to do whatever it takes in order to step in.
After the insane finale for Season 2 (no spoilers of course!) I couldn't wait to see what happened next, and luckily we don't have to wait much longer! If you're a fan of intricately written plots with more twists than you can count, and a cast chock full of anti-heroes that you can't help but root for, look no further. Season 3 of the smash HBO hit Succession drops on Crave October 17!
What I'm Watching Now
Crave is full of classic series that you may have always wanted to watch or want to binge again...here's what I'm watching!
I am a massive fan of the Canadian detective-noir thriller show Cardinal and now you can be too. Originally airing over the course of 4 stellar seasons on CTV, the entire series is now available for streaming on Crave. Along the lines of other great detective dramas like Bosch, and The Killing, this series follows two Canadian homicide detectives, John Cardinal and Lise Delorme, as they work to resolve some of the area's biggest crimes.
Played by the always fantastic Billy Campbell, the titular character wrestles with his past, and the rules he's broken and lives he's impacted only serve to haunt him as he tries to solve the next case. Being partnered with the straight-laced Lise (Karine Vanasse) gives him the support and focus to overcome his demons, but it may not be enough. The real reason Delorme is brought on comes to light as the season progresses however, and the results may tear the new team apart before it can even be established. How's that for intrigue!
What I enjoyed the most of this series is hands down the acting. I'm a huge fan of series that show the inner workings of detective work, and how chasing the worst of society is never easy and often leaves a lasting impact on the detectives themselves. Also noteworthy is the fantastic cinematography and settings of each season. Each individual season centers around one case, and whereas the first takes place in the dead of winter in Eastern Canada, another takes place in a sweltering summer heat wave. It really gives each season its own personality, and it's bingeworthy material at its finest as you watch the relationship of these two new allies take shape. HIGHLY recommended viewing!
