Goliath (Season 4)
It's been a bit of a wait, but the fourth and final (no!) season of the criminally underrated drama Goliath is almost here. September 24 will see this fantastic series take its final bow as Billy Bob Thornton returns for one last case. For the uninitiated, Thornton stars as Billy McBride, a washed-up lawyer who spends more time drinking than meeting with his few remaining clients or with his estranged family. He used to be the best lawyer around, and started a law firm that has become the biggest, most powerful firm in the country. When a guilty murder suspect gets acquitted on a technicality and ends up going on a killing spree, it drives McBride to walk out on his firm and become an alcoholic.
If the premise seems at least vaguely familiar, then you've probably been a fan of series such as House or Bosch. Troubled characters with a mountain of flaws...but that deep down care about justice, truth, and helping others. That's where Goliath shines. Thornton is perfect as the anti-hero; it's clear that he has issues and does any number of things that are less than enviable, but you know he's still the best lawyer around and will do anything to see justice prevail. You can't help but root for guys like this and that's where this series shines. It's great watching him take on evil corporations and a justice system that weighs more and more towards the rich and powerful (and guilty!).
Trust me, this show is as bingeable as it gets. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep you scrambling to see what happens next, but what I've loved the most about this series so far is hands down the acting and characters. Goliath really shows you the seedy underbelly of the justice system, and there's nothing better than seeing Billy McBride, flaws and all, manage to do what he does best. The final season is streaming on Amazon Prime Video September 24, so you have plenty of time to catch up on the first three seasons which are all streaming right now!

One of the best things about Amazon Prime Video is how many seasons of great shows there already are to binge on or new movies to enjoy. Whether you've always been meaning to catch up on that crazy reality series everyone's talking about or you just need a kickass action movie to watch on a Saturday night...Amazon Prime Video has you covered. Let's take a look at what I'm hooked on now!
Huge fan of Animal Kingdom and I'm pumped that the fifth season just dropped on Amazon Prime Video! One of the best family crime dramas in a while, you'll be hooked from the first episode. Animal Kingdom centers around a teenager named Jay who moves in with his estranged relatives, the Cody family, after his mother dies. The Codys are led by Smurf (the fantastic Ellen Barkin), and it's quickly revealed that they're a group of criminals, wanted for any number of high profile crimes. There's definitely a Sons of Anarchy meets Point Break vibe with this show, and I'm all for it. It's fascinating to watch the seemingly innocent Jay get swept up in his family's criminal endeavors and like those other titles, the amount of twists and surprises this series throws at you is unbelievable.
I'm a huge fan of these types of shows, and what I often enjoy most is to see just how the characters will get out of the scenarios their way of life puts them in. Everyone knows that in the end, there's nothing good that can happen in a life of crime (see: Breaking Bad) and Animal Kingdom is another great example. It's great that we get to be along for the ride to see how it all plays out. The fifth season just dropped on Amazon Prime Video and I'm sure it'll end on some bonkers cliffhanger since the sixth and final season has already been announced as well. Definitely worth your time!
