The year is flying by, and a new month means Amazon Prime Video has a bunch of awesome new content to check out. With kids back to school and Halloween almost here, a lot of streamers bust out the big guns when it comes to scary movies on top of the hottest bingeworthy shows, and this October is no exception.

As you may know, Amazon Prime Video is now available as part of the Optik TV experience, and the Prime Video app is on the Optik TV 4K media box as well and it's never been easier to sign up! There's a ton of great original content available...so let's take a look at what's headed our way next month and what I'm watching now!

Note: The latest 4K PVR is required to view Amazon Prime Video on Optik. For all account and viewing questions, see our page at www.telus.com/amazonprimefaq

I Know What You Did Last Summer (Season 1)

Nostalgia is a powerful thing, and nothing shows that more than when you see a movie remake or series based on a movie you saw when you were young. Nowadays as we all know, remakes are never going to stop...it's now just a matter of whether or not these new versions (or continuations) of the shows and movies we loved as kids can live up to or exceed our expectations.

Luckily, this seems to be the case for the highly anticipated new series I Know What You Did Last Summer which is coming to Amazon Prime Video on October 15. The premise closely resembles the original movie, with a group of teenagers finding themselves in danger a year after a fatal car accident. That night comes back to haunt them as the secret surrounding what they did, and thought they got away with, comes to light.

With remakes such as this, the first thing I always use as a gauge as to whether or not it'll be worth watching is who's behind it and why are they doing it. Both boxes are clearly checked here. The executive producer on this series is none other than revered horror filmmaker James Wan. His resume reads like a 'Best Of' when it comes to horror, from the Saw, Insidious, and Conjuring franchises, to countless other acclaimed scarefests...we're in good hands. And what new angle will this new series tell? Reports online say that the twist for this series will be different than the film, so I can't wait. Nothing gets me in the mood for the Halloween season like checking out new scary movies, so be sure to check it out!

One of the best things about Amazon Prime Video is how many seasons of great shows there already are to binge on or new movies to enjoy. Whether you've always been meaning to catch up on that crazy reality series everyone's talking about or you just need a kickass action movie to watch on a Saturday night...Amazon Prime Video has you covered. Let's take a look at what I'm hooked on now!

Upload

It seems like the wait for season 2 of the amazing series Upload has taken forever, but fortunately it's on track for release next year, which gives you enough time to catch up by watching the first season. Chances are you'll be waiting with me however because this show is so good, there's no way you won't binge it in a weekend. With a clever premise, hilarious writing, and top notch cast, Upload is definitely worth your time. In the near future, death is no longer feared...as you can pick and choose your digital afterlife. From where you want to be, who you want to be, and how you want to spend your 'time'...it's a brave new frontier.

As you can see however, it definitely gets no less complicated. Robbie Amell stars as Nathan, the recently deceased who finds himself in a new digital afterlife. Kept company by his digital guide Nora (Andy Allo) he must adapt to his new existence, with the biggest wrench of all getting thrown into the mix. What do you do when someone who's no longer alive and their still-very-much-alive guide fall in love? This show is beyond hilarious, and I loved the little annoyances that Nathan has to deal with as seen in the trailer.

The first season of Upload is available now, and you'll thank me when it's over.
