iPhone keeps setting wrong automatic time zone.

I have a problem that has now occurred on an iPhone 14 Pro Max and a 17 Pro Max.

I live in Fort St. John BC, which is in the mountain standard time zone. However, my iPhone will set automatically changes to the mountain daylight time zone which is Edmonton. I always have to turn on manual time in order to get the correct time zone. My understanding is that this is a carrier problem. Is there anything I can do about it?

The automatic time zone on your iPhone is determined by both your device settings and local network information. In some regions like Fort St. John, the phone may detect the Mountain Daylight Time (Edmonton) zone instead of standard time.

Here are a few steps you can try:

    • Go to Settings > General > Date & Time and toggle Set Automatically off and on again.
    • Ensure Location Services are enabled under Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services.
    • Restart your device so it refreshes its network and time zone data.
