I kept getting calls from Telus Promotions about getting a new phone. Finally said OK. I am getting emails from Telus, and even got a phone sent to me, but it was the wrong one. Now I;ve had to put the order through again, and it is very confusing. And i have to talk to a Telus customer service person and get it confirmed. Why does it have to be so difficult, I:ve spent hours on the phone putting in the order, re-putting in the order, etc. Does Telus want people to upgrade their phones or not?

Hi you are right, I’m a total idiot. It was a complete scam. They had me go on my account and order a phone. When the phone arrived the data storage was wrong, so. They asked me to send it back and provided a label. I sent it, and now they have a new phone! Then they wanted me to re-order so they asked for access to my computer - i gave it to them. They ordered another phone, and then someone accessed my computer and tried to send money from my credit card to someone. Luckily i caught that transaction and cancelled it. But now my credit card is compromised, my bank is worried they may have accessed personal info while in my computer. I’m having my computer cleaned, and will have to change my credit card, and sign up for a program that will watch my credit cards for me. Really I’m usually so careful - don’t know how this guy got past my guard.

Oh no, Thank you for sharing that with us, we’re really sorry to hear this happened to you. Scams like this can be very convincing, and unfortunately they do happen. It’s good that you caught the transaction and took steps with your bank to secure your accounts.

I got emails from Telus, and the order for the phone showed up on my Telus account, so I assume it was legitimate. I just don't understand why it needs to be so complicated, and why different Telus departments (Customer Services, and Promotions) can communicate with each other. I have now been told my order has to be reviewed by customer services, which is more time on the phone trying to get through to them.

Hello Swansonp, I am so sorry you’re going through this. It is incredibly frustrating to feel like you’re doing a company a "favor" by upgrading, only to be met with hours of hold music and shipping errors. Our goal here is always to protect our customers and sometimes it can be annoying, I agree. We'll send you a private message shortly in order to investigate this further and many thanks for your patience.

That sounds a lot like the scammers pretending to be Telus and a fairly common scam. You're absolutely sure that was Telus? Did they send you an email with a link that made you reset your password to log in to your account? The wrong phone they sent you, if you look up the return address they got you to send it back to, does it belong to Telus or it is some random business or house address? When you talk to a customer service person, did you call 1-866-558-2273? That's Telus Mobility's main number right from Telus.com.
I would highly recommend contacting Telus directly using one of the methods from the Contact Us link at the bottom of the forums here. By phone is the most recommended. The link should take you to https://www.telus.com/en/bc/support/contact-us?linktype=ge-footer . Any other site that doesn't start with Telus.com isn't valid. You can also try sending TELUS_Support a message on the forums here. That's the official Telus support account.
