billing issue
25 TopicsTelus charging tax on credits?
Has anyone else noticed that when Telus gives you a "one time credit" they charge you tax on the credited amount? So that when a Telus agent promises you a $100 credit their billing department charges you $6.20 PST and $4.50 GST on that and you only end up receiving $89.30. It seems like an incredibly deceptive practice and probably constitutes fraud. I'm wondering has anyone disputed this in order to actually receive the full credit that was promised? Here's how they explain it in the fine print on the bill: "*Credit provided is discretionary and includes applicable taxes (based on the taxes levied in the province of supply) therefore the value displayed on your bill is the value before tax. For example, a $10 discretionary credit towards Internet service offered in BC includes $0.62 PST and $0.45 GST, meaning the credit value displayed will be $8.93. The $0.62 PST and $0.45 GST are captured as reductions in the amount of tax charged on your balance owing. So I have unlimited internet for my wifi but I checked the Telus app and found out in may Telus had switched my internet plan without telling me from unlimited to a 1000gb cap for the exact same price and the only way we found out was a warning saying we had almost went over our limit. Is this an error by Telus or has rates changed??2.6KViews0likes10CommentsBilling error on my first bill
On April 26th I was contacted by Telus/Koodo proportional call by following sales representative. The deal was for all four family cell phone subscription for a flat fee of CAD$25 per line without any connection fees. This is a monthly bill of CAD$100 which I agreed to for the following plan 5G Unlimited nationwide talk, text, and 120GB non-share.data at 5G speed up to 250Mbps I was told that once the account is activated, I will be getting 3 eSIMs and 1 physical SIM. Thus far no eSIMs nor the physical sim. I had to call technical support to get 3 eSIMs and to activate before porting the cell numbers. I am still waiting for the physician SIM. During the past one week I spent numerous hours dealing with this situation with Telus including this highly stressful situation with my bill having a staggering $480 charge for the first bill with connection fees plus my account was set up with the correct plan with the higher rate than I initially agreed to. I have spend more than 15 hours on the phone with billing and technical support. One billing agent was able to remove connection fee of CAD$280 finally, for which I am thankful. However the sales representative, who sold me the promotional deal to join Telus has not kept her word which Telus is bound by to honor. She nor her supervisor is responding to internal messages. Who will pay for my time and the stress I am going through. Telus should have a special team to investigate the the wrongs and make them right. To Whom It May Concern, I’m writing to file a formal complaint about repeated and unjustified data charges to my TELUS account, which belongs to my young daughter. This phone is strictly for safety purposes during her walk home from school. It is not used during school due to school policies I cant even get ahold of her unless I call the school, and at home, she is on Wi-Fi or her iPad. Despite having data turned off, I was charged $50 again, I'm wondering who else has a $25 account with Telus and them giving unjustified charges. I can only imagine how many seniors or children's parents are experiencing this, seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen if others can check your billing data and not just the bill. They're scamming me and trying to say there is data being used, how so if it's shut off!Solved958Views0likes2CommentsTelus sent me to collection agency without contacting me
I received a mail from General Credit Services Inc stated that they have been contracted as the authorized collection agency because I own $1919.58 to TELUS CORPORATION PAYROLL I do recognize that the account number shown on the mail is indeed the T-ID I was assigned but I have left Telus more than 2 years ago, and not a single word from Telus, all of sudden I was sent to collection for something I never heard of? I tried to contact Telus to find out what’s going on, but giving that all the number I can find is for customer service and I clearly don’t have any active account so nobody can tell me anything. The nice ladies I had been talking to both assumed this is a scam letter. But given that the T-ID was actually shown on the letter I’m hoping someone from Telus could help me with this please. At least tell me the reason for this not so small amount please. 😭 Thank you very much for your attention to this matter. Rae899Views0likes12CommentsWrongfully Charged
Internet stopped working randomly. Charged $175 for someone to come have a look at it. You're telling me in addition to the monthly plan I'm on, it costs $175 to have someone fix the service that I'm paying for? That would be like your phone service cutting out for two days and rather than them reimbursing you for two days that you paid for service and didn't have any, you have to pay a fee for their mishap. WTF? Oh and the person never came because it started working before they were scheduled to come and I told Telus I no longer needed anyone to come. Bizarre behaviour.802Views0likes1CommentDiscounts in Agreement not being applied
I called in to renew my service agreement at the end of May as my term was up and the cost of my services was going to go up from $135 a month to $220. Spent about an hour and a half on the phone and received the Critical Information Summary promising a Monthly Promotional Price of $118.99 before taxes. Just got the first bill and none of the discounts in the Critical Information Summary are being applied and I'm being charged $260 or full price for each service, including an extra $20 for unlimited data despite specifically selecting a bundle that was supposed to include it. My latest bill also does not reflect the TV and Home Phone services correctly at all.318Views0likes2CommentsBeing billed something that was never installed
I never had home security installed nor did I want it but I am being billed for it. Have been trying to get help to have it removed from my account since March 12 2025. All I am getting is the run around and being left holding on phone call for 2 hours! If I don’t get any help I will cancel my internet and tv. Anyone else have this problem and what did you do to resolve it?309Views0likes0CommentsPending Bill after 7 years after closing the account?
Hi there, I closed my Telus account in 2018 and moved out of Canada. Last week (30 Sep 2025) I accidently noticed an email in my spam box from a company called General Credit Services about an outstanding balance of $33. First ignored thinking its a scam email. But today 09 Oct 2025, I received an email indicating its the second notice. I talked to the agent in the email and got a pretty interesting response. They say the final bill was generated and a paper copy was sent to my address in 2018 despite I had alwasy opted for email statements for years before I closed my account. She indicated that it was my fault that I did not follow the T&Cs on the "legal contract" and should have contacted Telus to check any outstanding balances 45 days after I closed my account. My question is even if there was a balance, why didn't Telus send me electronic statements and why sending it to General Credit Services in 2025 for a bill that was generated in 2018? Is General Credit Services Inc a scam company? Did I just get scammed? Btw, in order to avoid getting my Credit History affected, I went ahead and made the payment since the amount was small and it wasn't worth my time fighting. The real question is a company like Telus that is well established corporate trying to scam people like this...Unbelievable!Solved299Views0likes6CommentsTELEKOM LAW PROFESSIONAL CORPORATION
I received an email from Telekon Law. It states that I owe 510.17 before or on the 26th. I am not aware of any debts I have with Telus, and my phone bill is fully paid. I would like some help. Is this legit? I don't have the money to pay for it either, I already all my bills for this month and bought groceries, I literally have no money to pay for this. And if I don't, I am being brought to court apparently. Any help/information, would be greatly appreciated.199Views0likes1Comment
