Formal Complaint: Unjust Data Charges on Inactive

To Whom It May Concern,

 

I’m writing to file a formal complaint about repeated and unjustified data charges to my TELUS account, which belongs to my young daughter. This phone is strictly for safety purposes during her walk home from school. It is not used during school due to school policies I cant even get ahold of her unless I call the school, and at home, she is on Wi-Fi or her iPad.

 

Despite having data turned off, I was charged $50 again, I'm wondering who else has a $25 account with Telus and them giving unjustified charges. I can only imagine how many seniors or children's parents are experiencing this, seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen if others can check your billing data and not just the bill. They're scamming me and trying to say there is data being used, how so if it's shut off! 

  • Turning off data isn't enough to prevent some system apps and devices features from using data.  Find My Device, iMessage and RCS, MMS messages, software uodate checks, GPS, and many others things these devices do regardless of the data setting.

    While it is true that there can always be data leakage, we can still look in to this if you'd like. What steps did you take to turn the data off?
