How do you cancel home security when you move

I recently moved from a house to condo with 1 year left on my home security contract.  Condo has its own security so I don't need it. I have tried to cancel many times but am counting to pay for a security system in a house I no longer own.

Is it possible the account remains under the previous owner/tenants' name?
