Chek News At 5:00 Series Recording Broke, Needed To Reset Series

I've had Chek News At 5:00 set up as a series recording for months now and it's been quite reliable.

However, last week around Wednesday, or Thursday, it stopped recording.

What was unusual is that that I could see the series recording was still in place for the program.  i.e. I could click on the program in the guide and it showed the 3 circles indicating a series recording was set up, and edit series showed "new and reruns" was selected.   However, it wasn't selecting the program to record; the scheduled list also showed no future programs were selected for recording.

I needed to cancel the series and then set up a new series recording for the program to begin recording again; the scheduled list now shows future recordings.

Obviously, something changed in the metadata to break the recording - the current recording system is very fragile.

I certainly hope the top of the backlog list for your developers/software architects work includes stories for coming up with a better/more robust design for your recording system.

Series recording does continue to fail. Not sure what is a start/finish in the programming. I have lost the next episode a few times, have seen this mentioned several times. My suggestion is to go into the scheduled recordings on a regular basis while you remember what you wanted to be recorded to be recorded to see if it is still there.

The first time I looked there were three in scheduled, I immediately realised that was wrong as there should be a dozen or more. When a series ends, whether as in season ending or just Telus ending the series is deleted from your scheduled, it does not pick up the next season. Truly seasonal shows have to be re-entered, which you cannot do until a week or two before once you look to see when a new season is about to start. So expect to miss the season openers.

Channel 121: Chek News at 5 meta-data is broken again.

Last week, series recording stopped working.   When I attempted to set it up again, series recording was not available for the program - only individual recording is available.

Please fix the metadata again.

Note: Chek News at 6 does have series recording, Chek News at 5 does not.
