I have a talk and text 100 mobile plan. I topped up my account with $100 before my plan was coming due for renewal. The balance showed the $100 at first, however, when I tried to make a phone call a couple days after, the call could not get through and a message said that I did not have a plan because my balance was short of funds for the renewal. I then checked my plan balance again. It only showed $99.98 instead of the $100 which was required for the renewal. Two cents were missing for some reason. The two cents of course is an extremely insignificant amount, but it caused me the time and inconvenience as well as the trouble in finding out and fixing the problem. I tried to ask what caused the problem but the Mobile Assist and the #123 were useless, and I even called the Telus service lines but there were no live persons I could talk to. Also, I wanted to just top up the balance enough to renew but the top up amount needed to be $10 minimum. Now I have a balance of $9.98 sitting in my account for nothing.. And where is the two pennies gone anyway?

It's difficult to say for certain without looking at the account details but it could be the system billing for any partial amount owing (ex. there wasn't enough to cover the 911 fee and it's collecting the balance or trickle data usage ). We'll send you a private message to collect some account info to see what might've happened.

I had something similar happening when I first started doing the T&T 100 plan. It was taking a cent or two off occasionally (so I also ended up with a small useless balance carrying over). I think it was perhaps happening when I turned the phone on (after being totally off). It seems this is a data charge - perhaps it does some check of the network which uses a tiny bit of data. I asked them to turn off the data on my phone plan, and I have not had these little charges since then. Only works if you want NO data, of course - I only do txt and voice (and very little of that) on that phone. They also make the top up amounts so that if you do less than $100 it expires before the year is up - you can't just fill it up to $100 balance when renewal time comes around, you have to add $100 so you will get that $9.98 riding along all year (unless you make some long distance calls or something)
