Re: Data Block feature costing $2pm
I also have no idea what this is. Is it some sort of data service (other than the Data10,20,30 things I see), or is it something to block data from happening (which should not be needed on my phone which does not do data). If the former, is it a new extra fee to allow the data plans to work or does it actually include some data - if the latter, why should we need to pay to NOT have something? Why should we need to ask to turn something off that we have never asked for in the first place, and how can they justify charging for it if we don't? How do you actually contact Telus support? - the chatbot thing is just useless, and has no option to connect you to a real person even though it can't answer your question.19Views2likes2CommentsRe: A Two-Cent Mystery
I had something similar happening when I first started doing the T&T 100 plan. It was taking a cent or two off occasionally (so I also ended up with a small useless balance carrying over). I think it was perhaps happening when I turned the phone on (after being totally off). It seems this is a data charge - perhaps it does some check of the network which uses a tiny bit of data. I asked them to turn off the data on my phone plan, and I have not had these little charges since then. Only works if you want NO data, of course - I only do txt and voice (and very little of that) on that phone. They also make the top up amounts so that if you do less than $100 it expires before the year is up - you can't just fill it up to $100 balance when renewal time comes around, you have to add $100 so you will get that $9.98 riding along all year (unless you make some long distance calls or something)1.1KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Call Control accepted list will not display web page or app
Similar experience to Sparky480v and Tango435 In Chrome on Windows - accepted list and blocked list are usually visible, preferences is blank (not sure what is supposed to be there - something about voice mail?) Can add to accepted/blocked from call log by clicking button, but can't manually add to either list - accepted list goes blank if you click the +Add. MyTelus app on android acts about the same as Chrome. In Edge on Windows - accepted/blocked/preferences always blank - no change from the last month.5.5KViews2likes0CommentsRe: Call Control Installed But Call Display No Longer Working
Why would call control be a feature of call display? Call control should block a call before it gets to the call display phase (between 1st and 2nd ring). The whole idea is to stop the call before it gets to your phone so you never even know it is coming in.2.3KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Call Control Installed But Call Display No Longer Working
There does seem to be some link between call control and call display, as some entries I see in my call display are the names that I gave those numbers in the call control accepted list - which I can no longer see (there is another thread about that problem)2.5KViews0likes2CommentsRe: Call Control accepted list will not display web page or app
Assume the user has done something wrong (often a reasonable assumption), so ask them to do things that might result in them stumbling onto a solution (may work if assumption is correct) - problem solved in less than a day. If not, then you may have to do some work and it could take another day or two to figure it out. Longer, and the hard questions should start. In a previous career, I taught people how to troubleshoot things like this. Ah, the good old days, when we got things done! It is interesting to see them do things like ask for PMs to "gather account information" (which they should already have, given that we need to log in to get here) and work towards where they should have started, like now asking after more than a month what we are actually seeing. I wonder if anyone has got to looking at ... no, I won't go there - I promised I would stay retired. The ticket # comment hearkens me back to ITIL silliness (an inside joke for my type).9.1KViews1like0CommentsRe: Call Control accepted list will not display web page or app
I understand the process. Perhaps look at what code/database changes you made about a month ago when the problem started showing up? Obviously since multiple people/browsers/apps have the same problem, the fault is not on the user end.9.2KViews1like0CommentsRe: Call Control accepted list will not display web page or app
Of course, I had already tried all of the suggestions, but did them again to be sure. InPrivate in Edge and Incognito in Chrome (on my computer and Android tablet) did not help, as well as clearing cache, etc. Reinstalling the MyTelus app on Android did not help. As to VG getting the spam calls - the accepted list should not affect those (they should still get blocked unless they are in the accepted list, which I doubt). Perhaps you do not actually have Call Control turned on? That could also be why you would not see an accepted list. On the page at https://www.telus.com/my-telus/call-control/home-phone there should be a slider control near the top that is green if it is turned on.9.7KViews1like2Comments
