as anyone else dealt with sales reps misleading you about promotions and offers?
Over the years, I’ve had multiple instances where a promo sounded too good to be true—and it was. I’d agree to a deal, only to find out later that what I got wasn’t what was promised.
Take what happened in December as an example. I called to cancel my cable service since I barely watch TV. During the call, I was offered a promo that sounded great. I made it very clear I didn’t want my contract extended and would only agree if it was month-to-month. The rep confirmed, so I accepted.
Not long after, I noticed my contract had been switched from month-to-month to a two-year term. I called back to cancel the cable again—this time successfully—but before ending the call, I was offered another promo for internet. Once again, it sounded too good to be true, but for some reason, I accepted.
Fast forward a couple of months to today when I went to move my service to my new house (one of the reasons I didn’t want a long-term contract) and discovered I’d been locked into a two-year contract back in December—again—despite my clear instructions to avoid that.
I called Telus today asking for the call recordings, hoping to prove what was said, but I was told I’d need to go through the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario to access them. That feels like an unnecessary hurdle just to fix a problem caused by Telus staff giving out misleading information to close a sale.

I am at the point where I feel we should start reaching out to the CRTC - I hate to be that person but what Telus reps do to make a sale is not acceptable and then making it so difficult to fix the problem is even worse.
