We live in an area in BC with notoriously poor cell coverage. Our telus cellphones only ever gets 1-2 bars here at the house and never 5G. Telus has been calling me about upgrading our DSL modem to a Smart Hub, but I am skeptical. It sounds like the SmartHub is basically just a type of "cell phone" that acts as a hotspot for the devices in your house. If my cell connection is so poor, I assume the SmartHub won't work or will be equally as shakey. The DSL is slow but it never fails. Any advice on whether to upgrade for $100 @ month, which they are offering?

Given you've identified cell reception to be not ideal, you may experience similar issues with a Smart Hub.
