Using a MacBook Air as a phone

Evidently there are "apps" that would let me use my MacBook Air to make phone calls. But, the one I briefly tried required settings I do not have. Something referred to as SIM settings. The sample setup box implied a website address and a password.

Anyone have info on making this work..

A SIM is required to connect to a cellular network. More info here:

SIM card - Wikipedia

You can pair your phone with your Mac:

Make and receive calls on your Mac, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

If you wish to make calls without a phone you can get various VOIP programs to do this:

I don't use a Mac so I cannot confirm the validity of this information.

Good luck!

Just a long time customer hoping to help.

Yes, for instance, Skype is one well known example of an App that lets you make and receive phone calls on your MacBook Air.
