Hi:
This has happened before, last fall. This morning the alarm started sounding the trouble signal - it could not find a dial tone. The phone is the same - no dial tone. We are on fibre and the internet is working fine (obvious from this post).
When we had this trouble late last fall the installer explained that we had 'bridge taps' in the telephone wiring in the house and that these work fine with copper but not with fibre. He was surprised that all the telephone wall connectors were live (ie wired back to the panel) and there must be a dozen connections. He disconnected all except one for the ground floor and one for the top floor to try and eliminate any bridging. We have a wireless phone base station and an alarm box that use the telephone.
Any suggestions would be welcome. Thank you!

OK, I unplugged the alarm dialer and the wireless phone. Plugged the wireless phone back in and voila we have dial tone. Plugged the alarm system back in and still OK. Suspect the alarm dialer but ??? Will monitor. P.S. why do these things happen really early in the morning 🙂

If you were working night shift, these things would happen at noon. 😁
