I received a call tonight, November 20th 2024, and I kick myself bcuz the girl Rachell asked for my DOB, my DRIVERS LICENSE # and although I was extremely hesitant, she said it was needed for the promotion that Telus is running right now in order for me to have a Telus employee hook me up to Telus Pure Fibre, plus she knew that I was a Shaw home customer and she actually had my landline number...
So, now that I was stupid enough to give her my DOB and my DRIVERS LICENSE #, is Telus offering Shaw home customers an amazing deal right now that includes Telus TV, Telus Home Internet and Telus Landline? Bcuz what I was offered was truly amazing, but was it too amazing and I just got scammed?
But, when she asked me for my DOB and my DRIVERS LICENSE, I told her that I've been a Telus Mobility Customer for 26+ years, so wouldn't she or Telus have all that personal info anyway and that she can get it that way?
She said Telus Mobility is different from Telus Home and that's why she doesn't have the info, so I don't know!?
But I'm asking bcuz another thing that happened during her speech was that the call got cut off, luckily I was able to call her back. But that was another thing that made me wonder if I'm being scammed too!
So, I just really want to know IF this was the Real Thing, or did I just give out my personal info to a scammer?
Thank you in advance!

That sounds fraudulent. There are unfortunately many of these bad actors placing calls, claiming to be legitimate TELUS team members. As always, be very protective of your private information and feel free to check in with us to verify the authenticity of anything you receive.

Hi Telus_Support Worker...
This is what I am trying to do, I'm Checking In with Telus to Verify whether or Not I just Gave out very Personal info to a Telus Fraudster?
I really Appreciate your Time and Help, but You've only said that this "Sounds" Fraudulent!
I'd like to be Guaranteed, whether or Not, that this is Indeed 100% Fraudulent!
Does anyone from Telus Home Services actually Know Forsure whether or Not Telus is Actively Calling Shaw Home customers at the Present, November 20th 2024, and Offering them a Telus Home Bundle for Less than what Shaw charges??
And, Whether or Not Telus actually Asks for people's Identification in the form of a DOB and DRIVERS LICENSE # when they are Signing Up a person to be a "Potential" Telus Home Customer???
Bcuz I honestly don't recall, from 26++ Years ago, whether or not Telus Mobility "asked" me back then for this type of personal info when I first became a Telus Mobility Customer, but IF they did, then Why wouldn't this Telus Home services person already have my Personal Telus Mobility Info, just so that I Wouldn't need to be Asked for it again??
Anyway, I know You are a Telus Support Worker, and one who has just Told Me that this "Sounds Fraudulent", but do You or Anyone Know Forsure IF it is indeed Fraudulent??
I understand that I am being a pain here, but I'm asking for further, more Positive Assurance bcuz, IF it is Fraudulent as you suggest, then I as a Senior Citizen, just royally Screwed Up by Giving Out my very Personal Info, which I Don't normally do, and I really can't believe that I just did this!
So, I really Need To Know 100% IF I should Immediately do something Legally about it?
But then also, What types of things Should I be doing about it??
I don't know What Steps or Action to take IF this phone call really is/was FRAUDULENT??
I just can't believe that after I was being sooo Hesitant, that this Rachell person, who is "supposedly" a TELUS Employee from this phone number 1-(604) 243-5159, ended up Smooth Talking me Into Giving her that very Personal Information!
Pleeeaassse, does Anyone else out there, from Telus or otherwise, know 100% IF this is FRAUDULENT and/or a Telus SCAM that's Currently and Actively going on right now in November 2024?
OR... IF Telus is Honestly and Actively Making such Phone Calls as of November 20th 2024, and that in order for a Customer to be Approved via Telus, that it is actually "Necessary" for the Telus person to Ask a "Potential" Home Customer for their DOB and DRIVERS LICENSE??
I'm just Sick to my Stomach with Worry and feel like me Head is about to Explode!!
Thanks again in Advance, and I truly hope that Nobody Else is/was as Dumb as I was, and gave out their very Personal Information.....

Our outbound sales team will originate from a toll free number (not a local one) with the caveat that even the toll-free number can be spoofed. In your example, it is most certainly not a TELUS origin call given it's from a local number.
As you've provided personal info to them, we'd suggest reporting this to the Canada Anti-fraud centre: https://antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca/report-signalez-eng.htm
