Internet set up

Shaylene
Neighbour

We just got Telus set up the other day, and while the internet has been fine we were surprised to find out that it’s not just a single modem but 3 different peices that take up a large amount of counter space, and 3 different plug ins. With being in a rather small apartment both counter space and plug ins are in short supply. So much that we are considering cancelling because with Shaw we had 1 single modem that used 1 single plug in. Anyone else had this experience and know if there are any solutions?

sounds like Telus gave you a Fiber ONT, a router and a booster

The booster should have not been left with the router, but the tech should have found another place for it to help provide full wifi coverage throughout your home

The ONT is the actual "modem" and would be the device plugged into the fiber (should be the thinnest cable)

you can plug in your own router into the ONT, and only have 2 devices

depending on the plan you are on, you could have the fiber going directly into the router (the current one most people have is round and looks like a mini trashcan) through an SFP+ transceiver
