Re: Internet set up
sounds like Telus gave you a Fiber ONT, a router and a booster The booster should have not been left with the router, but the tech should have found another place for it to help provide full wifi coverage throughout your home The ONT is the actual "modem" and would be the device plugged into the fiber (should be the thinnest cable) you can plug in your own router into the ONT, and only have 2 devices depending on the plan you are on, you could have the fiber going directly into the router (the current one most people have is round and looks like a mini trashcan) through an SFP+ transceiver849Views1like0CommentsRe: Fiber Modem connection to Network Switch
you should get an ethernet cable coming down from the main floor to the basement, and then use a switch for the basement computers unless you know what you are doing, you should NEVER plug a PC directly into the ONT or a switch coming off of it this leaves you open to more vulnerabilities5.1KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Just upgraded to PureFibre X - When will Wifi 7 or even 6e hardware?
you could always use your own 10GB router/wifi solution ubiquiti has a few, but not very cheap, not sure if your SFP+ module will work with UI gear, you might need a copper to SFP+ transceiver for the 10GB uplink to the modem I have gigabit and use a UDM pro with a wifi 7 AP, but you would likely also need a 10GB switch3.2KViews0likes0Comments- 2.9KViews0likes2Comments
Re: How can I upload or download10GB of data
if all your devices are off then likely something is on your wifi, any smart home items? speakers, laundry, fridges, smarthome security, cameras can all be the culprit do you have Telus TV? that also goes over the internet it doesnt take much tv streaming to get to 10GB3.3KViews0likes2CommentsRe: How can I upload or download10GB of data
have you checked the router status to make sure that only connected devices are yours? if not, you can usually do it by going to 192.168.1.254 for most of the telus trashcan style equipment make sure you are constantly checking on the wifi security, to ensure nobody can access without permission then if all else fails, you may have some adware/infected software on one of your devices that calls home3.3KViews0likes4CommentsRe: Remote access for SSD hard drive plugged into Telus modem (like a NAS)
If it has an ethernet port, id recommend using the wired over wireless connection, as for connecting to it, I'd use my own private VPN, so that everything is encrypted, there's many guides on how to do it on the web1.4KViews0likes0Comments
