Call Forwarding Variable

Hi, I am trying to activate call forward variable.

 

I dial the *72 then get the desired number to forward to. After entering the number it gives busy tone. Doesn't matter what number I try to forward to.

 

Tried to talk to support and they are no help (possible language barrier). They keep asking what number I want to forward to and I explain it is call forwarding variable that is not working and I don't want them to activate call forwarding for me. I want to be able to do it when I need it.

Is this what you did?

To activate Call Forwarding Variable:
  1. Dial *72 or #72 from a touchtone telephone (72 from a rotary telephone).
  2. Listen for second dial tone.
  3. Dial the Call Forwarding Number.

Yep. Exactly that.

 

As soon as I dial the call forwarding number instant busy like signal. Doesn't matter the phone number I tried to forward to. Tried both my wife and I cell phone, my mom's landline number.

Any chance the call forward number is long distance, I expect that to work with 1 at the front. I used this in the past and not lately. If it is a fast busy that I think is an error message. Good luck sorting out this should be easy thing.

Have you confirmed with support if the feature is activated on your account? Have you used it previously and it is now not working or is this your first time using it?

Yep have the feature on my plan. Used previously a few months ago.

Well Telus escalated my issue and now things are really broken. They somehow now implemented call forwarding fix that can't even be disabled from my end. They say now 48 hours to fix their mistake, mean while can't receive phone calls on my landline.

same issue call forwarding doesn't work at all.. you get the 3 beep and then dial the number you want to forward to all busy tone.. no matter what number you try

Yes i am. Telus doesn't seem to know how fix this. Paying for a feature Telus can not provide. As you can see, not the only customer with the issue.

 

Thinking next steps maybe a CRTC claim as Telus is listing features they do not/can not support.

The procedure for this is to dial #72, get three beeps, then enter the number you want to forward to. The next step however (and this is the most important step) is that the number forwarded to should ring, and you'd need to answer that line to verify and establish the connection. Have you ensured that last step when attempting to set it up?

can't answer the phone if every number you dial is a busy tone

Yes of course. The procedure followed to a “T“ as you described. Even did this with Telus support on the line with me using my cell phone and my home phone on speaker so they could hear.

 

I haved used previously with Telus and other providers. It is a broken system on the Telus side of things. Telus is giving the run around admitting it broken but their appears to be no desire for Telus to fix the issue
