TELUS Home Assistant w/ Optik TV
I have a Optik TV PVR (Arris VIP5662W) and trying to connect it to Google Home. I'm able to connect it to Google Home but it doesn't ask me to change the name to a more friendly name. I tried many times unlinking, resetting the box/router, changing the box name in the Optik setup screen. Nothing seems to work. Is it because my Optik TV PVR is too old? To have TELUS Home Assistant? I believe I had it setup with TELUS Home Assistant several years ago but stopped using it as it was a little flaky and was curious if it got better.

Hey! The Arris VIP5662W is a legacy device, Follow these steps to force the change:
Manual Rename: 1. Open the Google Home app.
2. Find the device tile (it may be named "TELUS Optik TV" or a series of numbers).
3. Tap and hold the tile, then tap the Settings (gear icon).
4. Select Name and manually type in a friendly name like "Living Room TV."Force Sync: * After renaming, say, "Hey Google, sync my devices" to ensure the new name is registered for voice commands.
Improve Stability: * Since these older boxes can be "flaky" with cloud connections, try assigning the PVR a static IP or DHCP reservation in the router settings. This helps Google Home maintain a consistent "handshake" with the box.
