Scam Winback call

My 2 year plan expires near the end of May. I tried to renew at a price similar to my current contract but Telus would not come close so i put in a cancellation.

Today I received a call from 833 896 0455, caller id showed Telus [for what thats worth} and the caller knew my name and said they were sorry to see me go and was I interested in a special offer. Sure. He asked me what I was paying before, I said can't you see it on your screen and he said he hadn't pulled it up yet. I asked him to go ahead and pull it up and he immediately hung up.

I don't get it, what kind of scam is this, and who's leaking names and phone numbers to them that you immediately start getting calls once you cancel. Whats the end game?

Ironically if Telus genuinely called me and offered me 1 gig at $60 per month I would happily accept that deal even though its more than I am currently paying.
