Issue with NH20A bridge mode

Hey there,

I’m a newbie when it comes to networking. I have an issue trying to bridge the NH20A to my ubiquiti cloud gateway fibre. I have 1.5G fibre. I’ve tried everything I can think of and from research I’ve done and still can’t get it to connect. I’ve tried all ports bridged, port 1, 10g port. Factory resetting the NH20A and for whatever reason it will not provide internet to the ucg fibre. I’ve tried configuring the ucg to pppoe with all the accurate credentials and vlan 40 tags. I can get it to connect in a double NAH set up but the internet speed is abysmal. Only 0.1mbs. I’ve tried changing the ip addresses.

Any further guidance or any other ideas would be greatly appreciated!

    Here is a step-by-step troubleshooting guide based on common solutions for this specific hardware combo:
    1. The Correct Physical Connection & Bridge
    Use the 10G Port: Connect your UCG WAN port to the 10G LAN port (usually red or labeled 10G) on the NH20A.
    Bridge Settings: Log in to the NH20A at 192.168.1.254 (using credentials on the sticker) and select Bridge Mode specifically for the 10G Port.
    Crucial - Reboot: Once you apply bridge mode and plug in the UCG, power cycle the NH20A. 


    2. Configure UCG WAN Settings (The "No VLAN" Trick)
    This is the most common pitfall for this setup. While standard advice is to tag VLAN 40, some users found that with the NH20A in bridge mode, the modem itself handles the VLAN, and setting it on the UCG breaks the connection. 
    PPPoE Credentials: Set to PPPoE and enter your ISP credentials (e.g., [email protected] / password).
    VLAN Tagging: Try leaving VLAN ID blank or disabled in your UCG WAN settings.
    DHCP vs. PPPoE: Some users found that in 10G bridge mode, they should use DHCP instead of PPPoE. Test this if PPPoE fails. 


    3. Solving the 0.1 Mbps Speed Issue (Double NAT Fix)
    The "abysmal" 0.1 Mbps speed in a double NAT setup usually happens because of conflicting IP subnets or the NH20A struggling to route through the UCG.
    Avoid Subnet Conflicts: Make sure your UCG LAN network is not 192.168.1.x. Change your UCG LAN to 192.168.10.1 or 10.0.0.1.
    Advanced DMZ (if Bridge Mode fails): If you cannot get true Bridge Mode to work, factory reset the NH20A, set up in "routing mode," then use the Advanced DMZ feature in the NH20A to pass all traffic to your UCG's WAN MAC address. 


    4. Direct Fiber Bypass (Alternative for 1.5G) 
    If bridging the NH20A continues to fail, you can bypass it entirely. 
    Unplug the SFP module (the small metal transceiver) from the NH20A and plug it directly into the SFP+ WAN port of your UCG.
    Note: You must configure the SFP+ port in the UCG to lock at 10Gbps or 2.5Gbps, as it may not auto-negotiate correctly, resulting in 1G speeds or no link.
