Port-In Issue
I had an extremely disappointing and misleading experience with Telus that felt very close to a scam. I was contacted by a Telus representative named Zaid Haider Nazar who offered to transfer my existing mobile account from Bell with the promise of significantly lower monthly costs. I was told my new monthly bill would be approximately $35 per month compared to the $66 I was paying with Bell. I was also assured that my existing phone number would be transferred seamlessly using an eSIM process.
Based on these promises, I agreed to proceed. During the process I provided personal identification including my driver’s license and authorized the transfer of my number from Bell.
However, after multiple phone calls and emails attempting to clarify the situation, I discovered that none of the promises were honored. Instead of the $35 monthly plan that was advertised, I was placed on a plan costing approximately $80 per month. On top of that, my original phone number was not transferred as promised and I was assigned an entirely new number.
This experience has been extremely frustrating and has wasted a significant amount of my time trying to correct the situation. The fact that my personal information was collected during this process makes the situation even more concerning.
This kind of conduct feels predatory and misleading. Promising one price and service to lure customers away from a competitor and then delivering something completely different should not be acceptable business practice. In my opinion this raises serious questions about fair competition and consumer protection.
I feel completely misled by the information provided and by the lack of transparency throughout the process. Customers should be very cautious when approached with these types of offers because what was promised and what was actually delivered were completely different

This definitely does sound like it could be fraudulent. There are unfortunately always calls like this, with people claiming to be from TELUS when they're just out to get your personal/account information. Our reps are always required to provide an agent ID and should never ask for a driver's license via unsecure channels. As this may be something for our Fraud Management team, we'll need to investigate further. We'll send you a private message to discuss further.
