Re: Arris VIP5662W 4K Audio Problem
If none of it works, the last suggestion would be to get a new HDMI cable or have the box replaced. Also, when you said you have an older version of the STB, do you know what software version you had? Thanks Kate, I initally tried all those suggestions as part of troubleshooting as a cable or port problem would seem the likely point of failure. The same for swapping resolutions - to see if the problem was related to 4k alone and always the problem persisted until the optic box {singular -we only have one) was rebooted. I have not seen the problem for a while, mind you I am not watching more than a few hours a week of 4k content now, so it has either been addressed or is related to a memory leak and some other process is refreshing memory often enough I'm not seeing the problem. I do not know what the old software version was, I had at the time just replaced the box for PVR issues so the box, hdmi cable etc were all brand new. Again sorry for the late reply. I have an anxiety disorder that affects memory and totally forgot about this.....5.2KViews1like1CommentRe: WiFi6 slow speeds on Xbox One S
Same issues. I am about 15 feet from the hub - direct LOS. Since there is little you can do with the telus equipment I added an Asus router and configured it as an access point. Still nowhere near as fast as it should be, but much faster than the telus device. Part of the problem is the hyper aggressive approach telus uses for QOS and that they simply divide available bandwidth between the devices connected to the network and then half the connection speed to "avoid congestion". So my new i9 ROG laptop - connected at 2.5 gbps wired or at 1204 mbps wireless talks to alll the other devices on my network at about 40 mbps, despite the 2.5 gbps backbone on my network.5.7KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Arris VIP5662W 4K Audio Problem
- the TV is up to date for software. - the avr is up to date for software. - The TV is on audio pass through via ARC/EARC so it has nothing to do with the audio stream. - When the problem occurs I can watch the audio stream drop and resume on my AVR. - Rebooting the Telus box temporaraly solves the problem. Once I watch about a week worth of 4k football, hockey and baseball the problem begins again. - This problem started when I updated to the VIP5662W from an older version of the box. - The problem does not occur with any other input. TV, Android Apps, Roku, Squeezebox, Chromecast, everything else has zero problems with audio - even though the Roku passes through AAC, AC3, DTS, DTS-MA, E-AC3, TrueHD, Flac, MP2 and MP3.5.8KViews0likes3CommentsAre ALL the Self Service Options on the website broken?
- I can see a limited amount of acccount data on the My Telus App. - I can see my accounts on my computer web browser. Any attempt to change anything that is "self service" gives me an error that says its not working, please try again. Because of this phone support is hopeless with hours of wait time, your chat AI continually points to the same help articles that don't help, and all it offers is a callback option somewhere in the future. So should we abandon all hope?2.8KViews1like2CommentsArris VIP5662W 4K Audio Problem
So, after a couple weeks of viewing 4k sports broadcasts (there are plenty this time of year) the Audio starts best I can describe it is skipping. 20 seconds of audio, 1-2 seconds of blank no sound. This will continue and worsen with longer and longer skips until there is no sound output at all. To correct this I reboot the box. At present its about 10 days between reboots. My audio path is through my Sony KD55X85K, passthrough via ARC/EARC to my Yamaha RX-V567 AVR. When I have the problem my AVR is not seeing an audio stream to process. Additionally, after checking, all the 4k channels are affected by the same problem at the same time. None will stream audio to the AVR until the box is rebooted. It is very annoying to be in the middle of a game and have the audio start acting up because of the lengthy reboot process for the box.Solved5.9KViews0likes5CommentsRe: Speed test.
One thing to always factor in in all network connections is something called Overhead. It's housekeeping packets and depending on how clean your WiFi signal is, repeated malformed or damaged packets. It can be 30% of your connection speed. Meaning if you get a data rate 70% of whats rated - your good.4.6KViews0likes0CommentsRe: PVR recordings freezing
Then its a data rate problem. From what you said your setup is, I would first suspect cables as an issue. Is it possible to switch to a different cable temporarily? Or purchase and run a new cable? An old trick but on the male end of the cable you can use a pencil eraser on the copper contacts to clean them. If it helps, replace the cable, if I replace cables I usually replace with the highest spec available (Cat 7) because if I do upgrade network switches down the road it's one less thing to upgrade.12KViews0likes1CommentRe: PVR recordings freezing
Power Down and restart your PVR. Since I got a 4k tv and Arris VIP5662W box I find if I watch a fair amount of 4k I have to restart the box every couple weeks or it starts freezing like you describe - first on 4k sources only then in the guide then in everything. There must be a memory leak somewhere in the software.12KViews0likes3CommentsRe: Achieving optimal upload, and download speed from your TELUS connection
"Trashcan router supplied by TELUS. I will not discuss that device as I have little experience with it." Trashcan is a good place for it......it is the reason why "downloading the Windows Speedtest App" is the only way to get accurate throughput numbers for your connection. It institutes an oppressive QoS scheme that limits internal network speeds for Windows Home to about 45 mb/sec on my network. No way to do anything about it now that MS have decoupled QoS from policies in Win10 home. Transfer speeds among my *inux devices remains 100+ mb/sec which I found while trying to figure out why everything was so slow. Basically its "load balancing by limiting network speeds of QoS capable devices" and not intelligent balancing by traffic load, heavy handed "you don't need to go faster than X" oppressive balancing. IE: even with a single Windows computer with QoS attached - your 1 Gb internet connection turns into 45 mb/sec.....29KViews1like6Comments
