Re: youtube
"We are sorry, but you do not have access to YouTube. Please contact your Organization Administrator for access." So, to be clear for my situation, that means: The same email address that I've used for years to access YouTube can no longer be used to access YouTube? And by implication, my Playlists, Likes and uploaded personal videos are all lost?!? I'm dismayed. This sure seems like something that ought to have been flagged in advance. Is there no way to recover the lost access and resources?7.9KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Gmail Migration - New Support Content
I wasted more time today than I care to admit, trying to figure out why one email account could be switched over quickly and successfully earlier this week in my 3rd party desktop client (Thunderbird) while another email account that migrated today kept failing, despite identical incoming and outgoing server settings as per the Telus migration instructions. In the hope of saving other users of 3rd party email programs some of my frustration, I want to flag a critical setting in Google Mail. You have to explicitly tell Google to grant access to your Mail account for "Less Secure Applications." From the Telus migration instructions: Open your email account in a browser by visiting mail.google.com/a/telus.net Go to the 9 dot menu and select Account Select Security on the left-hand side Scroll down to “Less secure app access” and select Turn on access Toggle “Allow less secure apps switch” to On You have now enabled Less secure application access for your account. If you no longer require this enabled in the future, please use the steps above to change the setting to Off. Source: https://www.telus.com/en/ab/support/article/telus-email-as-alternative-application Hope this helps fellow do-it-yourselfers. It seems disappointing that Telus is handing over email administration to Google given its reputation in different contexts, but maybe everything will come up roses.18KViews1like0CommentsRe: Unauthorized Access, Telus Profile Locked
Thanks, Xray. No, I had not made any attempt to log in recently, much less change password (long overdue.) I appreciate your response. When I described the situation over the phone yesterday, the technician said he would redirect my call to some organizational unit within Telus known as the "privacy group," but I was merely transferred back to the menu tree on the main support line, having the effect of 'making me go away.' Oh, well. I'm setting some reminders in my calendar to make new strong passwords a few times over the next few weeks. I'll try to revisit this thread with an update if something related arises in days to come. Brighter day tomorrow... Regards17KViews0likes1CommentUnauthorized Access, Telus Profile Locked
Hi All, I received an email from Telus to notify me that somebody tried unsuccessfully 5 times in a row to use my email address to log into My Telus (my account), resulting in temporary lockout. I would appreciate perspective to gauge the seriousness of this. How common is it? Have I been singled out? I have changed all passwords and will do so again just for peace of mind, but what more can I do? I have a call in with Telus Support to talk with them about it (there's a queue but they're supposed to call back shortly), but is there anything more that I can do, e.g., for protection, and to help catch and prosecute whoever is behind such activity? I would appreciate any thoughts.Solved17KViews0likes11Comments
