Why does Telus force you to use their app to track you when using 2FA instead of using something like a yubikey or a totp based app? I'm unsure why i have to be forced to use some app i don't require to secure my account?

It seems every service not using one's cell number for 2FA, uses a different App. Telus is no different in this, it seems. Until it shakes out as to which are the best utility, I expect we will see a huge variety of Authentication Apps.

It is quite the quagmire. Their system relies on signing into the app and then digging to the security tab and only then would you see the authenticator. It is extremely backwards and unintuitive. I don't use it cause if the app fails to log-in, then I wouldn't be able to use the web interface.

It would be a miracle to see TELUS to conform to any normal standard, but the constant changes to things like the website, TELUS mail and webspace getting scrapped, and the restrictive hardware, I doubt this will change.

Best to use the email verification until they decide to hire likeminded Canadian engineers.
