Travelling to the uS

I will be travelling to the US for a few days next week.  I purchased the US Combo pack 25-30.  I've used it in the past and it's been perfect for what I need.  What I can't remember is when I cross the border, do I turn my cellular data off and my data roaming on, or do I have both on and just turn off all apps that use cellular data?  Can I function for texts, voice calls and emails with just the data roaming on?  Or should I leave the cellular data on and only turn the data roaming on when I need to do something?  I would like to be able to receive texts at any time though.  Any clarity to how this works would be appreciated.  Thanks!!

Ok, that's helpful.  Thank you.

Another tip...  turn you data off until you really need it. Voice and text is very generous for my simple needs.  However, if you have data turned on... your phone will regular check for emails several times an hour.  Turn data off until you really need to check emails.  Same thing for maps.  Location services can also eat into your data.

Text and voice is perfect for me too.  Thanks again!  I appreciate the guidance. 🙂
