- Starting in August, a Telus Business Rep called me 3 times a day while I was at work- the rep. promised a deal for the new iPhone 16 Pro with a lower total monthly bill if I also switched to Telus internet since I currently have Shaw internet and an iPhone 13 Pro on a "Bring-It-Back" plan
- My current Shaw internet contract has 20 months remaining
- Telus Business Rep said Telus would buy out my Shaw contract and take back my iPhone 13 Pro. Even though the Bring-It-Back deadline was approaching - I eventually agreed
- My first bill on this new Telus plan arrives and is $700 (my usual bill is $100)
- I contacted the Rep immediately. He said he told me the first bill would be “slightly higher.” He also admitted Telus could only cover my Shaw contract cancellation up to $500 - not the full $1200 remaining.
- The Rep actually suggests that I keep both Telus and Shaw internet in my 700 sq. ft. apartment, so I would always have a backup internet connection in case one goes out.
- The Telus Business Rep also says that at the time of the first bill my iPhone 13 was past the return deadline and they could no longer take it back, even though the new iPhone 16 hadn't arrived to me from Telus yet.
- Rep. actually suggests I should have sent back my iPhone 13 and been without a phone for 3 weeks while I waited for the new one to arrive (this was never discussed)
- I emailed & called the rep and requested to cancel everything because the deal terms were not as promised.
- The business rep stopped responding
- I have now been trying to escalate this since mid-October
- I received the Telus internet modem and iPhone 16 in October but have never used or even opened them. I started asking to cancel/return the items even before they arrived to me via UPS.
- No one in the Telus call centres can understand or even address the issue. Telus call centres are loud and no one there seems to know how the company works. They keep saying that it is impossible to return these items and since I technically still have the items I have to keep paying for them. They never make notes on the file and I have to start over every time I call. They seem incapable of changing anything and their suggestions are nonsensical.
- I have now spent over 6 hours on the phone with Telus and every single time I call they say they have no record of this issue.
- Now, Telus bills me $160/month when the Rep. promised $132/month for the “deal” I’ve trying to cancel for months
- I have still never set up or opened my Telus internet or iPhone 16. I am still using my old iPhone and my Shaw internet.
- This has been ongoing since August/September, with no resolution in sight because I haven’t been able to communicate the issue clearly with anyone who fully understands it.
I have never experienced something so underhanded and exploitative in my life.
Telus appears to be orchestrating full-on-scams now and congratulations to them they seem to have gotten me.
