How do I determine what my imap setting should be? I've got a message on my phone asking me to verify imap settings and it appears to be blocking my e-mail

There is information at this link. There are options for various types of phone.
You also need to be sure you have your email set up to IMAP at the server end. New Telus email all seems to be IMAP, but older accounts could be POP or IMAP.

If the settings on your phone are correct and you still have problems connecting, you'll need to provide the exact wording on the error and any error number it may show for this.
