wifi 6 - smart bulbs

I have PureFibre with Wi-Fi 6 equipment. I'm no longer able to select 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz on my devices as the only choice showing on devices is the name I gave my network, without GHz information. I called tech support because my smart lightbulbs won't connect since I switched over to TELUS. They told me that because it's Wi-Fi 6 I'm out of luck and to look for Wi-Fi 6 compatible bulbs (no such thing?). Any ideas or should I just return my bulbs and never have smart bulbs in my house?

I'm assuming your wifi 6 equipment is the newer Boost 2.0 access point. You shouldn't have any issues using the 2.4GHz smart bulbs with that. Have you logged in to the Boost unit and checked the settings? It's a separate IP and login than the main router. There are settings for the 2.4 and 5GHz networks as well as settings specifically for a 2.4GHz smart device network that is disabled by default, but can be enabled easily in settings.

The Boost 2.0 device looks like this:
