When connecting a Boost via CAT5 does it have to be direct?

BlairP

To help my performance on my home WiFi, I want to connect one of the Boost devices via CAT5/Direct cable.

However, given that the home (Telus) modem is in the basement, I need to use a cable connection to a router which is directly connected to the modem.

However, the installation of the Boost did not recognize the device.

Does a Boost have to be directly connected to the modem to leverage the Direct/CAT5 connection?

Change the router to a switch, or to act as a switch, and you should be OK. The Telus gateway (modem/router) has to be the device assigning IP addresses to the Boost Device.
