Hello Telus - The Calgary (Ogden) Outage for Home Phone / 911 is listed on the Telus Service Status page (https://www.telus.com/en/ab/outages) since July 29, 2024. There are no further updates other than the first one stating: Under investigation, suspected cable damage. Surely Telus technicians must know something more by now, 1.5 days later, so would appreciate a 2nd update confirming what the issue is along with an estimated time of repair. There are many seniors in our area that rely solely on a Landline phone to stay in contact with friends/family, pay bills, or may need to call 911.
Will this be a repeat of December 2023 where we didn't find out about how extensive the damage was, due to copper theft, until Day 8 of the outage?
None of us want to be left hanging, wondering day to day, when we'll have the ability to use our phone, especially if one needs to contact 911.
Asking for clear and timely information from a TelCom company about such an important service is not asking too much.

The issue has been identified as suspected cable damage, and we are currently sourcing the necessary equipment for repairs. Unfortunately, at this time, we do not have an estimated time of restoration.

Thank you for replying to my concerns about this outage. Upon checking the Telus Service Status page, I see Updates 2 & 3 have now been posted with more details and photos of the cable damage/theft, along with an estimated date of repair of August 6. Thank you for this information as it's helpful in alleviating some stress. It's very distressing that criminals are repeatedly targeting this area leaving many people without critical services. I hope some kind of security measures can reduce access to this site and that law enforcement will be able to find/charge those involved in this network.
